I am not going to even stick with the normal format on this, as I wanna get right to the point. This is something that has been kinda on my mind. I would like to say I am sure Mr. Corbett is a nice person. I have never met him, so I cannot say either way. My issue on the matter of PA Education is not even with him. My issue is with the people voting.
In recent months, I have seen tweets, Facebook posts, and the like attempting to organize and garner support for the issues schools are beginning to see with the budget cuts imposed by Corbett’s administration. My response to each of those tweets and posts was the same. Where was this organization during the election for Governor? To be fair, in two of the last three cases, I did not and do no live in those areas. So, if you did organize, ignore this and keep it moving. For those in Philadelphia, I better not see one tweet or post. Save that energy to show him the door at the next election. Seriously, I remember seeing a video put together by some West Chester School district teachers and parents after the election. The best was in Philadelphia county, where they were talking about organizing a rally. I was only upset, because when I would be driving in both of these areas, I would see way too many Corbett signs for people to be upset.
Then there are my favorite demographic of those attending rallies and posting tweets and onto Facebook. You know who I am referring to. Those people, who did not even take the time to vote. My first reaction is to slap them down like Pootie Tang. Also, save the bs excuses. If you think your voting rights are in question, there are organizations and resources that can verify.
I could go on and on, but the message is simple. Educate yourself on the candidate. Let your voice be heard. Organize. Vote.
Here’s a little bit extra for PA college students and their parents… http://rittenhoused.com/2012/02/07/tom-corbetts-budget-is-good-for-pa-residents-bad-for-college-students/
