Tom Corbett and PA Education

I am not going to even stick with the normal format on this, as I wanna get right to the point.  This is something that has been kinda on my mind.  I would like to say I am sure Mr. Corbett is a nice person.  I have never met him, so I cannot say either way.  My issue on the matter of PA Education is not even with him.  My issue is with the people voting.

In recent months, I have seen tweets, Facebook posts, and the like attempting to organize and garner support for the issues schools are beginning to see with the budget cuts imposed by Corbett’s administration.  My response to each of those tweets and posts was the same.  Where was this organization during the election for Governor?  To be fair, in two of the last three cases, I did not and do no live in those areas.  So, if you did organize, ignore this and keep it moving.  For those in Philadelphia, I better not see one tweet or post.  Save that energy to show him the door at the next election.  Seriously, I remember seeing a video put together by some West Chester School district teachers and parents after the election.  The best was in Philadelphia county, where they were talking about organizing a rally.  I was only upset, because when I would be driving in both of these areas, I would see way too many Corbett signs for people to be upset.

Then there are my favorite demographic of those attending rallies and posting tweets and onto Facebook.  You know who I am referring to.  Those people, who did not even take the time to vote.  My first reaction is to slap them down like Pootie Tang.  Also, save the bs excuses.  If you think your voting rights are in question, there are organizations and resources that can verify.

I could go on and on, but the message is simple.  Educate yourself on the candidate.  Let your voice be heard.  Organize.  Vote.

Here’s a little bit extra for PA college students and their parents… http://rittenhoused.com/2012/02/07/tom-corbetts-budget-is-good-for-pa-residents-bad-for-college-students/

Before I get started, I had one thing to to mention.  First, as I mentioned in my initial post, posting three times per week is really ambitious.  It is still my goal, it realistically may be the exception.

I decided to get really s52+erious about this health kick.  I mean more than just go to the gym to run and lift.  The single most important thing is the diet.  Since I was trying to lose weight, I knew I had to find something to track my consumption.  I took the advice of a friend, Joquin Williams, and became a member to www.myfitnesspal.com.  Not only will it track consumption, it also allows you to add and create recipes.  it will setup and track goals and it tracks your workout routine.  It is just an all-around great site and is worth checking out, if you are serious about getting healthy.

Make today the last day you listen to naysayers!

Initially, I was going to discuss the general format of my post.  Then I came to my senses and realized how corny that would be.  Plus, I had some things on tap.  Soooo here we go…

Is it me or does the movie, The Lucky One, seem really absurd?  In real life, I call a dude finding a picture of a woman and then tracking her down… STALKING.  At the very least, it is stalker-ish!  I’m just saying.

Currently, I am feeling really down on music.  Mainly, I talking about hip-hop.  I feel like there is nothing I can relate to, or even anything I can ride out to.  If anyone has any recommendations feel free to let me know.  Besides that, even the beefs are kinda corny.  If you don’t know, J. Cole is beefing with Diggy Simmons.  Well, for now, it is definitely the other way around.  Apparently, J. Cole took shots at the Simmons family in two songs 2010′s “Purple Rain” and 2011′s “Grew Up Fast”.   In the former song, he talked about his sexual relationship with a “good girl” whose “father was a preacher.” In the latter, he rapped, “You ni**as is not Russell, you more Diggy/ Me? I’m more Biggie.”  My take, J. Cole is doing what most rappers do.  Same with Diggy doing what any sibling would do.  This smells corny to me only because when it is released.  Diggy says he wrote it over a year ago,.  Why wait a year to release it?

That’s all for now.  While I’ll be blogging about random topics like the ones above, I will also be posting some excerpts from my interviews with my grandmother.  I will also be giving updates from my journey to lose weight.  My doctors say my tests show I am healthy, but 253 is 253.  I feel like I could end up at three bills at any minute, if I do not do something fast.  Do not worry, haters, I will be taking the slow and steady approach.  So, I will not be falling out trying to get to my goal.  I will also be blogging about a variety of other topics (Family, Politics, etc.).

Buckle up and get ready!

The Beast is Back

I just wanted to post something real quick to let everyone know how this is going to work.  My goal is to post something three times a week.  I know that number is ambitious considering family and work obligations.  We’ll see… Two of the posts will be blog entries and the third will most likely be a podcast.  Obviously, the posts will reflect something going on in my day to day activity.  Topics will mostly be related to family and health.

This will definitely be interesting and I am very excited to get started.  I will catch you Friday.
